Aurizon Vista

INTERNAL WEB APP | 2020 - 2021

Aurizon (Australia's largest rail freight operator) had a number of ageing applications that were costly to support and difficult to enhance. I was brought on to lead the UX/UI Design of ‘Vista’, a new integrated train management platform. The goal being to improve user experience by delivering one intuitive and easy-to-use web application. My role required me to streamline and standardise business processes, introduce new functionality and improve the visibility of real-time data and information, so that staff are better enabled to make informed decisions and perform their roles more effectively.

This research, combined with insights gathered from Live Run Coordinators (the primary user persona), I developed a clear understanding of the users' needs, experiences, behaviours and goals.

 I created a set of user journeys in Balsamiq, to visualise the key steps users take to complete tasks and reach their goals.

 The regular engagement I had with users and key stakeholders helped me to ensure both user and business needs were being met at key milestones of the product development. This included the challenge of liaising remotely during COVID restrictions.
